Highlights and Applications:

The Philips Master LED Light Bulbs are the most awarded high brightness LED bulbs on the market. The 12W Master LED Bulb has even won a 10 million USD price from American Lighting Association for its performance and design.

The LED light bulbs are the easiest upgrade from the classic, energy inefficient incandescent light bulb, to the new LED technology. Philips Master LED Light Bulbs can directly replace a classic light bulb with power up to 80 Watt because they have the same socket and similar size. This means you can keep all your current lighting fixtures or just purchase those that meet your design tastes.

  • Philips Master LED Light Bulbs for E27 socket are available in 12W and 8W versions.
  • These lamps are dimmable
  • Color temperature is Warm White (2700k)
  • CRI (color reproduction) is 80
  • Working voltage is 230VAC
  • CE, ROHS and EU Environment Directives are met
  • Not compatible with every fixture due to size (see datasheet under "Tech Specs" tab for details and dimensions.
  • Homogenous light spread / low decrease of luminous flux
  • No IR or UV radiation, low heat generation

LedRise.com recommends installing LED Light bulbs in lighting fixtures that are open or as translucent as possible and in which the bulb socket is facing the area where light is needed the most. Open lighting fixtures take advantage of the sleek, modern - high tech look of the Philips Master LED Light Bulbs. If a fixture is translucent it means it will let most of the light to escape from it which is very important for lighting efficiency - otherwise why invest in a new lighting source when most of its light gets trapped inside the fixture? The way the socket is facing is also important because LED light bulbs have a more directed light - for example, there is no use to try to light your desk if the LED bulb is facing up. We also suggest dusting the lighting fixtures regularly because dust particles just prevent light from passing through.

Typical home applications:

Lighting design calls for use of multiple light sources to light a space because in this way light can be effectively directed to areas where is needed and also you can create multiple lighting scenarios based on the occassion - work, reading, conversation, watching a movie, relaxation, entertaining guests and so on. LED Light Bulbs can be used in many types of lighting fixtures as:

  • Desk lamps. Used to light the working area (desk, table surface) and the LED Bulb should be installed facing it.
  • Table lamps. Their glow brings more light to an area and they also serve as an decorative object. A table lamp can be easily moved to another place. However they should not be used as the main light source or as working lights because they are build to look nice and glow, not to efficiently direct light.
  • Hanging lamps. In the past one large hanging lamp in the center of the room was used to light the hole space. Today hanging lamps are used to create pools of light in areas like the dining room. Its considered a very good idea to hang one large or several smaller lighting fixtures over the dinner table, as low as possible. This will direct more light over the table, attract attention to the area and create an atmosphere which promotes intimacy and conversation. If the fixture is glowing (the material is milky translucent) it will give an impression of higher brightness for the hole room.Careful, the glowing fixture must not be too bright otherwise the effect is the opposite: the space seems dark. One Philips Master LED Light Bulb should be enough.
  • Up lights. Up lights are used to light the ceiling of a room which gives the impression the room is actually higher.
  • Wall Lamps: Decorative lamps placed on walls. In the bedroom they can be used as reading lights.
  • Other lighting fixtures, usually in places with a more classical style
  • Outdoor wall or hanging lamps used at lighting the garden or exterior of the house.

Commercial and business applications:

  • Corridor lighting. Hotels are the most interesting application for LED bulbs because they usually use hundreds of them to light their long corridors which need light 24 hours per day.
  • Other public areas such as lobbies, stairwells, where the light is always on.
  • Showcase lighting where you can take advantage of the LED Bulb Design.
  • Desk lamps, hanging fixtures, wall and up lights to give personality to a space in a restaurant, bar or cafe.

Warm White or Pure (Cold) White?

  • Warm White (2700K – 3000K) light creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere which is, in general, preferable for homes. However, if your home color scheme (walls, furniture, decorations) is based a lot on black & white or very pale colors we recommend Pure White. Warm White Bulbs gives off a yellowish light that helps enrich the warm colors in your home, like Red, Orange, Yellow and materials such as wood or gold. Warm White is suitable for lounges, hallways and bedrooms – areas for relaxation.
  • Pure White (3000K-5000K) is usually good for working environments as it promotes productivity and give us the ability to see contrasts. This makes it ideal for work areas such as kitchens, laundries, workshops and offices (not to mention being great for reading lamps).
  • Cold White (6000K) bulbs appear to have be cooler or ‘bluer’ light and are generally used for special applications only. They may be used in lighting when special effects or a 'cool' appearance is required. We recommend the cold or pure white for cool atmospheres like medical practices, jewellers, shop windows, and showcases.

Why choose this product ?

The Philips Master LED Light Bulbs have a smart design, are long lasting, high brightness lamps that improve the quality of life.

Over the classic Incandescent Light Bulb:

Large energy savings: Upgrade to LED Light Bulbs and you can cut your lighting energy bill by as much as 7 times! A classic bulb makes more heat than light and its average light efficiency is around 10 lumen/Watt compared to the 12W Philips Master LED Light Bulb which has an efficiency of 67 lumen/Watt.

Huge replacement savings: A Philips Master LED Light Bulb can last up to 25.000 hours which is 25 times more the Classic Bulb. If we consider the average cost of a Classic Bulb and of the time needed to replace it at around 1.5€ you will spend up to 60 € just to replace one light bulb in your house. Consider also the amount of waste produced and costs to process it.

Unlimited ON/OFF: The oldest working Light Bulb is operation since 1901 and is installed in a fire house in California. Beyond the obvious luck factor which made this bulb last 110 years there is one very important aspect: the bulb was almost never turned OFF. When a Light Bulb is turned ON the gas inside ignites and in many cases this explosive reaction destroys the fllament and thus kills the bulb. LED Bulbs do not have this problem; you can turn them ON and OFF as much as you want.

Over the Fluorescent (Economic) Bulb

Better light: Light quality is expressed by the Color Rendering Index (CRI) where the maximum possible (best) is 100 and the worse is 0. Sunlight and incandescent light have a CRI of 100. A light source with CRI is below 79 can affect the quality of life because the colors of objects, people, fruits, vegetables and so on are not seen correctly by the human eye. If CRI is bad fruits will appear less fresh, skin not so healthy and clothing will have a completely different color - a deep red in a poorly light department store will be something else under the sunlight.

Many Fluorescent Bulbs have a CRI lower than 70 while Philips Master LED Light Bulbs have CRI 80.

color rendering index

Better design: A twisted milky white glass tube does not look that appealing . On the other hand Master LED Bulbs have a sleek, modern - high tech look.

Resistant to shock: Fluorescent Bulbs easily break and the gases contained inside are also dangerous for people. Philips Master LED Light Bulbs are much more resistant and containt no gases.

No UV radiation: Fluorescent Bulbs produce UV radiation when in use and UV has a harmful effect on color pigments and plastics. Organic colors fade and plastic becomes dull and brittle. Toshiba LED light Bulbs do not produce UV radiation.

Instant light: Most Fluorescent Bulbs need some minutes to reach the maximum brightness while LED Bulbs start at 100% immediately

Eco Friendly: Fluorescent Bulbs contain mercury which is a very dangerous substance for human health and the environment. For this reason Fluorescent Bulbs need to be disposed in special places. LED Bulbs do not have this issue.

Over other LED Bulbs

Dimmable: Both 12W and 8W Philips Master LED Light Bulbs are dimmable which makes them the brightnest dimmable lamps on the market.

Superior design: Philips Master LED Light Bulbs are more than just light sources, they are a decorative item that will give extra personality to any lighting fixture.

Better LEDs: Philips uses Lumileds Luxeon LEDs for its LED light bulbs. Lumileds (USA) was the first company to mass produce high power LEDs and today is the largest producer of such lamps.

Longer lifetime: These LED Bulbs will last over 25.000 hours
