Highlights:

The LED Bulbs by Samsung are characterized by their sophisticated design, high luminous power and long life expectancy. The high CRI value allows a very natural light spectrum, which leads to a natural rendering of colors and skin tones and is perceived as very pleasant. The Samsung E27 LED bulb with an energy consumption of 7.2W is particularly suited for the illumination of restaurants, lobbies and offices, but it is also a brilliant replacement for power eating bulbs in living rooms.

The average life expectancy of 25,000 hours provides you with valuable planning and investment security.

  • Luminous flux: 490 lumen
  • Long life expectancy
  • Highly efficient with minimum energy consumption
  • Full luminous power immediately after switching on
  • Free from mercury
  • Dimensions (LxH) 113.2x59.97mm
  • Samsung LED A60 for E27 socket
  • Color temperature: Warm White (2700k)
  • Working voltage is 230VAC
  • 135º view angle
  • These lamps are not dimmable
  • CE, ROHS and EU Environment Directives are met
  • Not compatible with every fixture due to size (see datasheet under "Tech Specs" tab for details and dimensions).

Equivalence calculation:

LED light bulbs are the easiest upgrade from the classic, energy inefficient incandescent light bulb, to the new LED technology. Samsung LED Light Bulbs can directly replace a classic light bulb with power up to 60 Watt because they have the same socket and similar size. This means you can keep all your current lighting fixtures or just purchase those that meet your design tastes.

7.2 Watt = 40 Watt (stated on the box, using lumen-lumen method) - 60 Watt (using the useful lumen method - see below)

Main advantages of LED Bulbs over:

Incandescent:

  • 80% energy savings
  • No IR heat in the light beam
  • Much less heat produced during operation

Compact Fluorescent:

  • Better, warmer light
  • Instant ON at 100% brightness, no warm up time
  • No UV radiation
  • No dangerous metals like mercury

Both incadescent and compact fluorescent bulbs:

  • Up to 40 times longer lifetime, valid for cheap compact fluorescents too
  • Almost unlimited on/off cycles
  • Elegant design
  • More useful light

Most important advantage: large money savings

When we purchase a lighting product we should consider not only its buying price but also its cost of ownership. In other words:

  • Total cost of a bulb = buying price + ownership cost
  • Ownership cost = energy use + cost of replacement bulbs + cost or replacing them

lifetime savings for a led bulb

As you can see, the higher initial cost of a LED bulb is rapidly recovered as we use it and until the end of its life we save enough money to buy it again over 14 times!

*Year ownership cost for 12 h/day, every day. The numbers are just an example for a brand name, 40-60W equivalent LED bulb. Total ownership savings are calculated over incandescent, for compact fluorescent the amount is aprox. 70€

Light quality and effects over life quality:

Light quality is expressed by the Color Rendering Index (CRI) where the maximum possible (best) is 100 and the worse is 0. Sunlight and incandescent light have a CRI of 100. A light source with CRI is below 79 can affect the quality of life because the colors of objects, people, fruits, vegetables and so on are not seen correctly by the human eye. If CRI is bad fruits will appear less fresh, skin not so healthy and clothing will have a completely different color - a deep red in a poorly light department store will be something else under the sunlight.

Many Fluorescent Bulbs have a CRI lower than 70 while brand LED Bulbs have CRI 80 to 95.

The principle of useful light:

useful lumens

LEDs and all the products that use them are directional light sources. All their light is focused in a relative narrow beam of 25° to 160° (depending on model). Incandescent or compact fluorescent lamps are non directional light sources, light being spread over a 360° angle, which need reflectors or fixtures to direct light to the useful plain. These reflectors or fixtures are, at best 60% and at worst 20% efficient.

Simply put, a 500 lumen LED bulb has 500 lumen of useful light, a 500 lumen incandescent or fluorescent has 300 to 100 lumen useful light.

Buy LED bulbs only from internationally known manufacturers:

We recommend LEB bulbs from Samsung, Toshiba, Philips, Osram, Lg because:

  • Luminous flux values are real and where confirmed in an independent laboratory. Tests have shown that generic products from small manufacturers which where not independently tested have two to ten times lower brightness then their manufacturer claims
  • Specified lifetime is real. As with luminous flux values, generic products can have lifetime as low as 1000 hours even if their producer promises 50.000 hours
  • All quality and safety standards from the EU and USA are met. Many generic products do not meet the most basic safety standards and thus should be banned from sale.

General information about applications of LED bulbs:

LedRise.com recommends installing LED Light bulbs in lighting fixtures that are open or as translucent as possible and in which the bulb socket is facing the area where light is needed the most. Open lighting fixtures take advantage of the sleek, modern - high tech look of the Samsung Light Bulbs. If a fixture is translucent it means it will let most of the light to escape from it which is very important for lighting efficiency - otherwise why invest in a new lighting source when most of its light gets trapped inside the fixture? The way the socket is facing is also important because LED light bulbs have a more directed light - for example, there is no use to try to light your desk if the LED bulb is facing up. We also suggest dusting the lighting fixtures regularly because dust particles just prevent light from passing through.

Typical home applications:

Lighting design calls for use of multiple light sources to light a space because in this way light can be effectively directed to areas where is needed and also you can create multiple lighting scenarios based on the occasion - work, reading, conversation, watching a movie, relaxation, entertaining guests and so on. LED Light Bulbs can be used in many types of lighting fixtures as:

  • Desk lamps. Used to light the working area (desk, table surface) and the LED Bulb should be installed facing it.
  • Table lamps. Their glow brings more light to an area and they also serve as an decorative object. A table lamp can be easily moved to another place. However they should not be used as the main light source or as working lights because they are build to look nice and glow, not to efficiently direct light.
  • Hanging lamps. In the past one large hanging lamp in the center of the room was used to light the hole space. Today hanging lamps are used to create pools of light in areas like the dining room. Its considered a very good idea to hang one large or several smaller lighting fixtures over the dinner table, as low as possible. This will direct more light over the table, attract attention to the area and create an atmosphere which promotes intimacy and conversation. If the fixture is glowing (the material is milky translucent) it will give an impression of higher brightness for the hole room. Careful, the glowing fixture must not be too bright otherwise the effect is the opposite: the space seems dark. One Samsung Light Bulb should be enough.
  • Up lights. Up lights are used to light the ceiling of a room which gives the impression the room is actually higher.
  • Other lighting fixtures, usually in places with a more classical style
  • Outdoor wall or hanging lamps used at lighting the garden or exterior of the house.

Commercial and business applications:

  • Corridor lighting. Hotels are the most interesting application for LED bulbs because they usually use hundreds of them to light their long corridors which need light 24 hours per day.
  • Other public areas such as lobbies, stairwells, where the light is always on.
  • Showcase lighting where you can take advantage of the LED Bulb Design.
  • Desk lamps, hanging fixtures, wall and up lights to give personality to a space in a restaurant, bar or cafe.
